Vignerons de Caractere, Rhone - Domaine Carobelle Gigondas 2007

This is a co-op in the Rhone Valley that makes individual parcels from vineyards in great years and 2007 is one of the best. I was sitting down to lunch with the sales person and he made the mistake of offering me a red wine......amazing.....was immediately in love and asked why I had not seen this wine today !! They had hardly any left so did not want to tease me. Too late, I ordered it then and there on the spot !

Colour is excellent, deep and rich, the nose showed finesse and elegant fruit which carried through to the palate of sublime silky expression of the power of Gigondas. This is an iron fist in a silk glove.

80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Cinsault. The Grenache in France is far more savoury than here.

Great with red meat and game.
