Domaine Michel Briday, Burgundy - Mercury Premier Cru "Clos Marcilly" 2006

Michel is the only producer in this Premier Cru vineyard. He believes it to be the best and nearly always takes out the gold medal for his Mercury which I hear gets up the nose of the other producers !!
Good dense colour - the wine needs more time in bottle but is showing deep and dark fruits of the forest, still slightly astringent and rustic as Mercury can be but is a very good aging prospect to develop it's rich characteristics.
You can feel confused by Burgundy, especially when it needs more time to develop, it can give you hints at the treasures to come and yet in the mouth it is going "get nicked I am not ready yet" but you love it anyway.

It will take a roast on, it's a Mercury !
