Domain Day One Serious Sangiovese 2005

Domain Day Sangiovese 2005

Tasting Notes

In the glass it is deep purple with crimson highlights and the nose shows ripe dark cherry and subtle sour cherry notes which is typical. In the mouth there is red cherry fruit, a silky sweet fruit flavour on the mid-palate with an unmistakable and essential hint of earthy savoury-ness. It is a medium bodied wine with fine ripe tannins and a good acidity typical of Sangiovese, finishing pleasantly dry with fine tannins and a lovely rustic appeal.

To keep these vines under control Robin is quite savage in pruning and crop thining to keep the wonderful concentration in the wine. Again he uses tight-grained french hogsheads with medium toast for 18months.
