Domain Day 1 serious Merlot 2006

Rich purple in colour with dark crimson highlights so you know it is not a "wuss". There are dark and red berry fruits, blackcurrant, blueberry, plum and black olive on the nose. The cool vineyard situation influences the palate generating violet floral tones, ripe dark berry fruit characters and a savoury black olive character. It is well-balanced with loads of fruit intensity, smooth tannins and a good length of palate.

Robin works very hard in the vineyard to produce the right grapes and then finishes the job with quality french hogsheads. To me a roast beef with a sauce made from this wine would be great.
